CHI 2009 Press Information Sheet

Welcome!

Welcome to CHI 2009! We are delighted you are here, and we hope that you will enjoy your time covering the conference. As the premier international conference on human-computer interaction, CHI 2009 is a conference with great depth and breadth, and often it is difficult to decide to attend. In addition to the special press events that we have scheduled, you may wish to attend the “CHI Madness” session first thing in the morning. At CHI Madness, presenters of the day are given 30 seconds each to convince attendees to attend to their particular session. This can lead to a somewhat frenetic, though often entertaining overview of the day’s activities.

Scheduled Press Events

To assist you, we have arranged several press events that we hope you will attend. They have been scheduled during the breaks so you will not have to miss sessions, and they are listed at the end of this document. We will be adding to these events, so please check in with the press office daily, and leave us your contact information so we can forward updates as we have them. You will also find hard copies of our press kit in the press office.

Special Seating/Private Tour

Please note that we have special press seating in the front of the opening and closing plenary sessions, the software/food design panel, the panel on mobile technologies for children, and the invited talk by Nokia Design’s Jan Chipchase. We also have a private press tour of the Interactivity Demonstrations arranged just before the reception on Monday evening. Please let us know if you are planning to attend these events when you sign in, so we can make sure we have enough seating.

Support for Arranging Interviews

In addition to our scheduled events, we will do our best to locate presenters you wish to interview. Please let a Student Volunteer or CHI 2009 committee member in the press office know if you would like to arrange an interview and we will try to help. You may also use the press office to conduct interviews that you set up yourself, as long as we do not have a conflicting event in the press office.
